SPE SCHOLARSHIPS – Fort Worth Section
To encourage the pursuit of careers in the Oil and Gas Industry, the Fort Worth Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers is excited to offer scholarships for students that are either entering their freshman year of college or are an undergraduate student already in college.
Undergraduate scholarships of up to $3,000 per year are awarded annually and (once awarded) may be renewed through the recipient’s senior year in college (up to $12,000 in total).
Scholarships and renewals are contingent on the student:
- Enrolling in and maintaining a full-time status in a curriculum leading to a degree in petroleum engineering or related engineering program that will lead to a career in the Oil and Gas Industry.
- Achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for each semester.
Failure to maintain these standards may result in a denial of renewal requests.
Students must be a resident of Tarrant County or the surrounding area (Erath, Hood, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker, Somervell, or Wise). Applications from candidates in Brown, Callahan, Coke, Coleman, Comanche, Coryell, Eastland, Hamilton, Haskell, Jones, Lampasas, McCulloch, Mills, Nolan, Runnels, San Saba, Shackelford, Stephens, Stonewall, Taylor, and Throckmorton Counties will be considered on a case-by-case basis. First year applicants must provide a statement that it is their intent to enroll in a petroleum engineering or related engineering program at an accredited university that will lead to a career in the Oil and Gas Industry. Current scholarship recipients requesting a renewal must provide evidence of their current enrollment status (including major) and GPA.
Applicants must be United States citizens or lawful permanent residents.
