Is the Lower 48 Tight Oil Still a Growth Theme?

Most large public companies are adopting ‘stay flat’ production strategies. Shale CEO’s, however, are commenting that the US is past its production peak and investors are demanding E&Ps reinvest on a fraction of what they have historically. All this while the macro backdrop points to higher WTI prices over the next few years.

How does it all balance? And how does inventory exhaustion factor into the mix? Can tight oil provide the growth platform it once did for US operators?

Please join us as Benjamin Shattuck and Ryan Duman from Wood Mackenzie bring us their perspective.

Biographies

Benjamin Shattuck is a Research Director at Wood Mackenzie. He received his MBA from the University of Oklahoma - Price College of Business with a focus on Energy, and completed a focused program in Petroleum Economics and Management at IFP. He has been with Wood Mackenzie for nine years where he has spent much of the past five years analyzing the shale plays across the Lower 48 with a particular focus on the Permian Basin.

Ryan

Duman is a Senior Analyst at Wood Mackenzie. He has an MS from Michigan Technological University in Applied Natural Resource Economics and has been with Wood Mackenzie for over five years.
